Female Infertility (Natural Killer Cell Count)
Female Infertility (Natural Killer Cell) test measures the number and activation levels of Natural Killer cells.
Natural killer cells are part of the immune system; they are cells that can be found in the blood and Uterus as well as some other areas in the body. They find and kill “foreign” bodies and can sometimes attack and kill the fetus.
Activities of these Natural killer cells in the Uterus, has been implicated as a cause of repeated miscarriages.
Female Infertility (Natural Killer Cell) test is a simple non-invasive blood test to measures the number and activation levels of Natural Killer cells. It is a very efficient form of infertility testing.
Why Get Tested
Some women who have fertility problems and specifically recurrent miscarriages are more likely to have higher levels of activities of Natural Killer cells than in other women. Natural Killer testing should be considered for women who:
have had repeated miscarriages
have had repeated IVF failure.
This test requires a blood sample. The blood sample can be collected at one of our partner locations or at home using our on-demand sample collection service.
